What does your perfect job look like?
Find what you love to do and make money at it.

by Calleen Wilder

In any job, career or profession there are always things you absolutely LOVE to do, and things you absolutely detest.  There are also many things that fall somewhere in the middle.  So when you are trying to think about, and hopefully design your perfect job, please keep in mind that you can only do so much.  You only have so many hours in a day, so many days in a week, and so many weeks in a lifetime.  So what do you include?  And what do you exclude?

Obviously your first response is probably that you would exclude all the things you HATE.  But do you really hate them or perhaps is it simply something in the way that you "feel" you are required to do them that feels restrictive or burdensome?  And if so, could you change it and then find that you actually don't hate that particular part of the job at all?  Rather, you hated something about how you perceived you must do it or was always made to or told you must do it.

In essence, everything is bendable, changeable and do-able.  My problem seems to be in choosing from this delicious buffet of items that I can possibly blend together to make my perfect stew (job)...what do I include....and what do I leave out?  If I put too many items in, is it possible, given our earthly time constraints, to actually let each item I added to be savored, appreciated and explored by not only myself, but to all of those who I wish to share this specialized stew with?

So when I ask you what your perfect job would look like, what it would feel like, what it would entail, please remember to think very carefully about what it is, if given the open opportunity by the Universe, that you really wish to spend your preciously limited time doing?  What mark do you really want to leave on the world, if any?  What goal are you trying to achieve within the scope of your lifetime?

Perhaps you have financial goals, most of us do.  You may also have Universal goals, spiritual goals, educational goals, service-oriented goals, etc...  Narrowing down this list is an enormously important thing all in and of itself.

Over the course of the last year or so, I have been doggedly pushing forward trying to get everything in place and running smoothly in what I believe is the spiciest stew that I can create.  Granted, I still have some kinks to work out and some additions and subtractions that I still need to make, and as frustratingly slow as this entire process has seemed, it has given me the time to slow down, think about my passions, think about my goals and bring focus to what I will and won't be offering in my personal dish.

I have been soul searching and trying to objectively look at the different areas I have studied, trained in, worked with and always assumed would be included in my stew.  Only to find that some of the areas people who know me would assume would always be included, will probably be phased out of my offerings as time simply won't permit me to do all of the things that I want to do.  I've been weeding my garden so to speak, along with having to remove some old reliable and still useful offerings to make way for other things to grow to their fullest potential.

It has been quite a journey.  And provided I am thinking clearly and making wise decisions, hopefully the road blocks will lessen and the assistance I need provided to accomplish it.  If not....well...back to the drawing board as I have either left something out or included too much....I assume "they" know much better than I where it is I am really heading.

So often I believe that "let go and let God" is the only way to go.  Yet I have found along this latest pathway that I have been exploring, that God still expects you to take steps in some direction.  We can't really be a passive participant within the space of our lives, that is, if we still have goals we wish to reach and offerings we wish to provide.  We will most assuredly be guided by God when we veer a little too far off course, and in the re-capturing of the original intention we will probably have to climb a few additional hills just to get back on track.

Also, as we grow and become more aware of what it is that we truly have to offer, new routes will be constructed for us, but it is always up to us whether we dare to venture forward or stay locked into what we feel is our predetermined route.

However, this time, as frustrating and full of complications as it has been, it also has been a time that I feel we should all really experience.  You will find out so much about yourself and what your true mission in this life might be if you decide to really think about what it is that you want to work towards achieving in your lifetime.

Sometimes I think we get so locked in or so accustomed to doing something that we never consider no longer doing it.  Just because we have always done it and are capable of doing it, we don't really think about whether we really want to do it or not.  So we throw it into our stew, all the while assuming that our stew requires it.  We go on auto-pilot so to speak.

So, look deep within yourself...what would your "ideal" job be?  Where do your passions lie?  Not only what are your gifts and abilities, but which ones do you love so much that you can't imagine not including them in your own stew.  And which ones, although reliable, no longer really seem to add that much flavor to your offering?

So often we think that we know exactly what it is we would want to do with our lives if only we had the time or the money to do so.  However, if you really look within yourself and try to configure precisely what that would include, I think you might find yourself in similar shoes to mine and find yourself somewhat stumped as to where exactly it is that you are wanting to head with your life and how do you now build it.

I'm asking you to really think about this question not only so that you be allowed to discover that you might not know what you want as well as you had always assumed you did, but also, because in the precise and careful visualization of it, you exert a great deal of energy...and as we all know, energy is what everything is made of. Visualization is a powerful tool for manifestation.

Hopefully by examining your goals, your dreams, your gifts and your loves, you will not only discover truths about yourself that you may have never allowed yourself to explore, but you may also exert enough focused energy to actually create your ideal job, position, hobby or offering.  Where energy flows, creation grows.

It is a truly wonderful process....this living we do.
